Photography: Splash Project - Dancing Paint
I decided to try something a little different with regards my splash project, I'd seen something called dancing paint - this is where you apply paint to a vibrating surface. The paint then appears to dance.
I replicated what I had seen by putting a stretched out balloon over a speaker, with green and blue paint in blobs.
The area was pitch black as I was about to fire the camera with a shutter speed of 1/200.
I'd setup my camera at 6 o'clock with two high-speed flashes at 5 and 7 o'clock, the flashes were set to 1/16 power which meant the flashes would effectively freeze the action and it wasn't dependent on the speed of the shutter.
To make the speaker vibrate I used an audio generator this meant the results were more repeatable than if I had played an audio track.
I really love the depth of field in this photo, although sadly the balloon is clearly visible.
